Technological quantum leap in Wöllersdorf

The Mayor of Wiener Neustadt, Klaus Schneeberger, visits MABA Fertigteilindustrie GmbH.

With a new, energy-efficient concrete mixing plant as well as a flexible central shifting plant directly integrated with a fully automatic mesh welding plant, MABA Fertigteilindustrie GmbH – a company of Kirchdorfer Concrete Solutions – produces flat precast elements with the latest technology at its Wöllersdorf site.

Large Investment at MABA

Between the so-called “wind power hall” (Hall 1) and the headquarters of the Group administration, a state-of-the-art central shifting system (ZVA) was built at the Wöllersdorf site in 2020, in which pallets of up to 11 x 4 metres are shifted via a central platform in a star-shaped and computer-controlled manner. In contrast to conventional circulation systems, there are no waiting times in front of the individual stations. Thus, the new centralised transfer system achieves maximum efficiency. An essential part of the new production infrastructure is also a fully automatic mesh welding plant that will produce up to 200 m2 of two- and three-dimensional (bent-up) reinforcement mesh per hour, depending on the complexity. The geometry, which is specifically tailored to the individual products, ensures a corresponding increase in efficiency. The plant is the largest in Austria – based on the size of mats produced – and will also be able to cover additional demand for the rest of the plant outside of ZVA operating hours.

Visit to the production facility

In mid-October, the mayor of Wiener Neustadt, Klaus Schneeberger, came to see the innovations at the site for himself – and was impressed by the high degree of automation and the technological progress. Kirchdorfer Concrete Solutions Division Manager Michael Wardian pointed out the immense advantages of the new plant: “The high degree of automatic prefabrication, the new variety in product manufacturing and the increase in the standard of our workplaces have been successful.” Site manager DI Jürgen Strohschneider is also very satisfied with the innovative layout of the new central shifting system at the MABA plant in Wöllersdorf. “The big challenge at the beginning was the assembly process with the commissioning and the high degree of automation – a first for our site,” explains Strohschneider. The goal for the next few months will be to expand the product range even more in the direction of the greatest possible standardisation.
