When it comes to the protection of the low-ranking road network, it becomes clear that an expansion of the Austrian federal and provincial roads is necessary. Currently, there are still more than enough roads that are not yet equipped with a high-quality restraint system made of precast concrete elements, with which the Kirchdorfer Group contributes to the protection of motorists, especially on the motorways. In order to roll out the unstoppable triumphant advance of the globally recognised Deltabloc® technology to the so-called “low-ranking road network” in the future, KIRCHDORFER CONCRETE SOLUTIONS has developed a tailor-made product that combines the necessary impact protection in a highly efficient manner with significant noise protection properties.
With “Sile&Safe®” – the “Silent Safety” technology developed by KCS – a space-saving combined system is now available, which is provided with a noise protection layer of up to 9 cm thick in the impact area close to the ground, made of lightweight concrete with a structure spanning the entire surface. The specially developed high-performance concrete guarantees the required impact properties, which were impressively demonstrated in extensive crash tests. At the same time, the noise-absorbing layer acts as close as possible to the source of the sound – the rolling noise of the tyres. In addition, the high restraint elements are also equipped with an integrated absorber layer made of wood-concrete elements.
The compact, extremely durable and low-maintenance multifunctional solution is a “game changer” in the protection of federal and provincial roads in Austria, where the first reference installations in Styria and Lower Austria have already proven their worth – both for permanent use and for the temporary protection of danger spots, which is particularly easy to accomplish due to the foundation-free use of the interlinked system.
