The „HoHo“ in Vienna’s Aspern Lake District

The “HoHo” in the lakeside town of Aspern – still the wooden house with the most storeys worldwide – continues to be the talk of the town due to its innovative construction process with prefabrication and assembly construction.

Already in the planning phase, the Kirchdorf-based group was able to score points with the know-how from the two (material) worlds of Maba FTI and the group’s sister company MMK, which specialises in timber-concrete construction, and to support the planners with their know-how in solving the essential construction detail – consisting of timber supports, reinforced concrete beams and timber-concrete composite ceilings.

Thus, the perfect interaction in planning, production and delivery of the more than 1,000 (16,539 m²) XC® floor elements produced in the Gerasdorf plant with the 500 prefabricated girders (3,882 running metres) produced in the Wöllersdorf plant contributed significantly to the success of the precisely fitting assembly on the construction site. In the stiffening staircase core, which was raised using in-situ concrete construction prior to assembly, other prefabricated parts from KCS were also installed. In addition to reinforced concrete columns and element slabs, all stair flights were also supplied as prefabricated parts.
