Kirchdorfer Group with dual leadership with immediate effect

In addition to the previous Managing Director, Erich Frommwald, Michael Wardian, Managing Director of Kirchdorfer Fertigteilholding GmbH, is now also responsible for the fate of the building materials group.

As of the beginning of the year, Hofmann Holding GmbH – the executive company of the Kirchdorf Group – is managed by two managing directors. In addition to Erich Frommwald, who has been the sole managing director of the group since 2004, Michael Wardian has been nominated as the second managing director. A dual leadership was indispensable due to the size achieved in the meantime and the complexity of the company, which consists of several divisions and over 50 individual companies.

With a total of almost 2,000 employees in 13 countries, the Kirchdorfer Group is active in the areas of cement, raw materials, precast concrete parts and road safety. It has been in the hands of the two founding families since the Kirchdorfer Zementwerk was established in 1888 and has been successfully managed by Erich Frommwald since 2004. In the interests of the Group’s continuous development, personnel decisions in the Group are made on a very long-term basis. Due to the size and complexity of the group, which now consists of several dozen individual companies, the holding company has been jointly managed by Erich Frommwald and Michael Wardian since the beginning of the year.

Michael Wardian (50) has been working for the Kirchdorf Group since June 2003. The trained business economist was initially Head of Controlling at MABA Fertigteilindustrie GmbH and Commercial Manager at Kirchdorfer Industries GmbH. Since 2013, as Managing Director of Kirchdorfer Fertigteilholding GmbH, he has been responsible for the fate of Kirchdorfer Concrete Solutions – the largest corporate division in terms of turnover and personnel. He is therefore ideally equipped to set the course for the future within the Group.

“My focus is on the further growth of the group, which we want to secure profoundly with ecological, social and, of course, technological competence. As the market leader in many areas, we have a special responsibility to play a significant role in shaping the sustainable future of the construction industry – from the ecological footprint to the advancing digitalisation to the social responsibility of our group of companies,” Wardian explains.

Over the coming years, Wardian, who was born in Mödling, will place particular emphasis on the further expansion of the Kirchdorfer Group’s sustainability – a process that has already been firmly established in the precast holding company in particular. It is a particular concern of his to also increasingly inspire women for technical professions in the industry and to promote the continuous training of employees.

Erich Frommwald (60) is looking forward to the joint work in the Group management: “Michael Wardian has been responsible for the impressive and economically sustainable development of our precast segment with a lot of commitment, competence and farsightedness and has made a good name for himself on the Austrian precast market. Having already been working on long-term succession planning for many years, I am confident that Michael Wardian will cope with the demands placed on him in the best possible way.”

In the spirit of continuous corporate management, the succession for Erich Frommwald is also already being planned accordingly for the long term.

KCS Erich Frommwald

Erich Frommwald has been working for the Kirchdorfer Group since 1994. Born in Leoben, he joined the Kirchdorfer Group as assistant to the long-standing managing partner Max Machanek after studying business administration and working for the Styrian Montanwerke. Significantly involved in the national and international expansion of the group of companies, he took over the management of the group of companies after Machanek’s death in 2004 and has continued the growth course with great success ever since.
